Swimwear is getting a surprising upgrade this summer! Remember the barely-there thongs that dominated last season? It seems the trend for showing a little more skin is evolving. Maybe it’s fashion playing peek-a-boo with what’s covered and uncovered, like with the new pelvic cut-outs.
Or maybe it’s just a way to add some pizzazz to the usually simple world of bikinis. Whatever the reason, double layer bikini bottoms are the hot new trend, and they’re definitely turning heads!
Kylie Jenner recently shared some photos on Instagram from a fun photoshoot promoting her drinks brand, Sprinter. She was joined by her close friends Anastasia ‘Stassie’ Karanikolaou and Victoria Villarroel. The three of them wore matching two-piece outfits in different colors.
While their triangle bikini tops were stylish, it was their unique bikini bottoms that really stood out and grabbed everyone’s attention.
The bikini bottoms sport a unique two-tone design, making them look like two pairs layered together, with the thin side straps sitting at different heights on the hips. Custom-made by swimwear brand Oséeree, Kylie flaunted a navy blue and gold combo, Stassie rocked an orange and pink mix, and Victoria wore two shades of green.
The founders of the brand, Isabella Cavallin and Jannine Vinci, shared with Cosmo that they constantly enjoy trying out new products. Recently, they started with a simple tulle and created a custom-made fabric. They dyed it to get the perfect color and added their signature touch—a metallic layer that makes it shine and glow.
Instead of lining the fabric with lycra as usual, they decided to explore transparency, combining two colors and effectively creating two bikinis in one. This resulted in a fun and sexy new bikini style that captures the retro charm of ’80s fashion while feeling incredibly modern.
A closer look reveals that the tops also have a double strap feature, but it’s more subtle compared to the detail on the bottoms.
Earlier, in April 2024, Kyle Richards flaunted her figure in a unique swimsuit that gave the illusion of wearing two suits at once.
However, her striking Same Double Layer Bikini Top and matching bottoms were actually a single piece, cleverly designed to look like layered swimwear.
She loves the doubled-up design so much that she also has it in black and gold, which she wore to showcase her toned body by the pool in January 2023. For those who prefer patterns, the popular style is also available in zebra and striped prints, as well as a variety of solid colors.
