Salma Hayek celebrated her 15th wedding anniversary on April 25 by sharing three beautiful throwback pictures from her lavish wedding in Italy.
The 57-year-old actor honored her partner, François-Henri Pinault, 61, calling him her “soulmate” alongside the photos. One of the snapshots even offered a peek at her bridal attire, including a plunging white satin bustier that emphasized her figure.
In the first picture posted on Instagram, Salma radiates elegance with her rosy cheeks, glossy lips, and a subtle smokey eye.
Another photo, in black and white, showcases her two stunning gowns: a $488,000 Balenciaga ball gown worn for the ceremony, featuring a V-neckline and intricate bodice, and a second dress worn for the reception, boasting a strapless corset and tiered skirt.
The last photo captures a heartfelt moment during their vows, with François-Henri tenderly slipping Salma’s wedding ring onto her finger.
She expressed her joy in the captions of the images, expressing gratitude for the blessing of finding one’s soulmate. She encouraged those who haven’t found theirs to keep hope alive, while urging those who have to cherish it always. It was a heartfelt reflection on one of the happiest days of her life.
Salma met her future husband during the spring of 2006, at a grand event held at Palazzo Grassi in Venice, a property belonging to his father.
François-Henri leads the French luxury brand company Kering. Kering is the parent company of several prestigious fashion houses, including Gucci, Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen, Brioni, Boucheron, Pomellato, and others.
In a 2019 interview, Salma recounted the first encounter between her and François-Henri. She described it as an incredibly romantic and remarkable experience.
However, she emphasized that she preferred to keep the details private, expressing a desire to preserve its intimacy. In another interview she said that she didn’t want to oversimplify it by turning it into a narrative for the sake of appearing intriguing.
The couple got engaged in 2007 and decided to tie the knot at the 6th Arrondissement City Hall in Paris on Valentine’s Day 2009.
Surprisingly, their courthouse wedding caught many off guard because despite being engaged to François-Henri, Salma had always been apprehensive about marriage. Reflecting on the event in a 2023 interview with Glamour, she admitted that she didn’t even realize she was getting married that day. It felt like an unexpected turn of events, almost like an intervention. Salma revealed that she hadn’t shared this particular story before.
They basically dragged me to the courthouse. My parents, my brother, they were all pushing me towards it. I had this fear of the whole marriage idea.
Then, a little while later, I started to feel a bit excited about it. François-Henri was like, “Can we celebrate now?”
Two months afterward, they had a bigger ceremony in Venice. It was a two-day event, kicking off with a masquerade ball rehearsal dinner.
The next day, they exchanged vows at the La Fenice Opera House. Among the attendees were Penelope Cruz, Javier Bardem, Charlize Theron, Lily Cole, Ashley Judd, Woody Harrelson, Anna Wintour, and many others.
Hayek and Pinault technically have two wedding anniversaries. Initially, they had a private ceremony on Valentine’s Day in 2009 at the courthouse, followed by their official wedding celebration in Venice in April of the same year.
In February this year, Hayek marked the occasion with another post on Instagram. She shared a simple black and white photo with a caption expressing her love and gratitude.
In 2017, Hayek expressed her happiness about being married to Pinault. She emphasized the importance of choosing the right partner and highlighted their mutual support for each other’s endeavors.
According to her, their bond brings them joy, especially seeing each other succeed. She also mentioned that they prefer spending quality time together rather than having an active social life, indicating a strong preference for each other’s company.
