Sofía Vergara acknowledges the role her physical appearance played in catapulting her to international fame, and she harbors no guilt over it. She notes that while her looks may have given her an advantage in the entertainment world, it’s her character that has sustained her career.
Speaking to Spanish daily El País, Vergara argued that it would be ridiculous to reject or feel bad about this fact. “My giant boobs and striking looks were my ticket to the world when I embarked on my modeling career at the age of 20, but now I’m 51 and I’m still relevant in the industry,” she stated.
Dealing With Beauty’s Double-Edged Sword
Vergara confided in the media outlet about how her attractiveness opened doors for her during her teenage years, when she noticed boys giving her a lot of attention. However, she soon realized the flip side of this situation – she was being treated differently.
She stated, “Even though there are women who are younger, prettier, with a better body than me, I have managed to stay in the game. If you are only focused on my physical attributes, that’s your problem, not mine.”

Elaborating on her personal life, Vergara disclosed the reason behind her separation from Joe Manganiello after seven years of marriage. Manganiello, 47, wished to start a family, a prospect that didn’t align with Vergara’s vision for her future. The 51-year-old “Modern Family” actress explained, “My marriage ended because my husband was younger and desired to have children. I didn’t want to become an old mother – I didn’t feel it was fair to the child.”
A Different Path For Motherhood
Despite expressing respect towards individuals who choose to have children later in life, Vergara declared that this path was not her calling anymore. She already had a son at 19, Manolo Gonzalez Vergara, whom she shares with her first husband, Joe Gonzalez.
Vergara stated, “I’m on the verge of menopause, it’s a natural process. When my son decides to become a father, he can let me spend time with my grandchild before I return the child to him and continue with my own life.”
